Post 104 - Sinclair Brothers. - Two Moons LP

Wayne and John Sinclair gave us the "Two Moons" LP in 1979 and were on countdown and sounds unlimited. They toured as support for Don McClean, Janis Ian and Rita Coolidge. The album cover was shot with Cardinia reservoir in the background on a hill top in Emerald, Victoria where John had a Farm. They went on to tour Australia and since John settled in SA and Wayne in Victoria. They recorded the singles "Yesterfool" in 1978 and "Love Me Like I Love You" in 1979 which were both included on the LP. Two more singles followed in 1980 "It Must Be Autumn" and "City Boy." "Two Moons" was recorded at Festival Studios, in Sydney on the Infinty label and was produced & engineered by Martin Erdman. Other personnel on the album are Alan Fischer drums, Stefan Lapan guitar, Marcus Green bass and Wayne piano/vocals, John guitar/vocals. A big thank you to Peter McCray for sending me this album to clean up and to post on my blog,  Peter talked to producer Martin Erdman and I quote "Martin said that one of them was working on some unreleased recordings and there might be the possibility of a re-issue with these tracks as bonuses in the works.  But sadly, he subsequently advised that the brother had died unexpectedly - last year I think - so that was that. Very sad." It’s very sad indeed. Here for you to download is that album "Two Moons" (L 36845).

I have been searching today to find out, but have come up with nothing. I noticed you have asked on the one hit wonder site, hoping someone will reply soon. I downloaded the album tonight, thanks, I haven't been able to play the album for years as I have no turntable. Awesome.

Hi ER,

Here's an email I received from Martin Erdman who produced the Sinclair Brothers L.P.

It was John Sinclair, (who lived with his wife in South Australia) -
the older brother to Wayne - who tragically died last year. Wayne (the younger ) is still living in Victoria as far as I am aware.

Yes, the Two Moons album was great and a highlight of my days
at Festival and a tribute to the brothers, but unfortunately never
achieved the acclaim it deserved. Maybe one day it will be
recognised for the Snclair Brother extraordinary talents.

Thank you very much for passing on that information. Very sad news. Over the years I have searched for information to try and contact John to catch up. I'm sure he will be truly missed by many.
Thanks again

Hi Gary

I came across their 1978 single ("Yesterfool" b/w "Jenny")at the flee market last weekend and am totally blown away with the quality of their music - they had an almost Bee Gees sound to their vocal harmonies and I can't believe they didn't go onto bigger and better things.
I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to now hear their LP and remaining singles.
So thanks mate and I hope that 'spark' inside you re-ignites your love for music and the blog again.

I met Wayne in the winter of 1990, and recorded with him and a drummer from Sydney a dozen songs or so near Emerald. I would love to catch up with him. It has been 23 years since I last saw him. I have our recordings on cassette still and play them once in a while.

In 1971 I met John Sinclair as he was working for AMP Insurance. My family befriended him. I was a keyboard player and we got together to share our our music interests. His parents had a Guest House in Warburton Victoria and invited me to join a band that would perform on weekends in Warburton. His brother Wayne was only young but quite a talent and closely followed the music of Paul McCartney. We spent 3 great years playing together at Warburton and other venues around Melbourne. Our Drummer was Dennis Mortimer and along with John and Wayne became close friends of mine for a while. Followed the fortunes of the Sinclair Brothers from then on and was happy to see them have some success. Always wondered what happened to the guys in recent years. I have the 2 moons album in my collection. Watching them perform City Boy on Countdown shows what talent they had and surprised they didn,t go on to greater things. Really sad to learn that John died as we spent so much time together in the seventies. RIP John. from your old band member David W

Paul Bonner Jones (Sydney Duo 1983)...Wayne Sinclair was a mate of ours back in early 80's...He was working the Pub and Wine Bar circuit of Sydney back in that day (solo). Wayne was regarded as one of Sydney's most talented one man show performers. He would carry a mini Grand Piano into every gig. It was hard going back then. Everything weighed 10x what it does now. He would put in a top standard every show.

Wayne was instrumental in helping myself and my duo partner Glenn Steed get off the ground professionally. He'd often invite us to various gigs around Sydney. We started playing thereafter (about 5 nights a week). That was standard in that day before the Poker Machines come into the Hotels.

Memorable gigs with Wayne were a Snow Season in 1983 in Perisher. We had a residency at the Brumby Bar Jindabyne and Wayne was playing shows in the ski fields as well. I've often wondered what happened to Wayne. I'm on Facebook. Paul Bonner Jones. paulbonner59@gmail.com

Wayne was a terrific songwriter and showman. Would Love to catch up with him one day and talk about those times. I'm sure he'd still sing and play as good as he was when he was just a young fella..!!
