Post 57 - Gary Young & The Rocking Emus – Running Late For Wandong/Rockabilly Heaven

Gary Young ,born 1945 in New York, was a founding member of Australian rock band Daddy Cool in which he played the drums and sang backing vocals. He formed Hot Dog featuring Daddy Cool bass player Wayne Duncan to prime the sales pump before the cool combo reformed and stayed together until 1975.Gary also wrote music for the rock movie OZ with Duncan and Wilson before replacing Ernie McInerney as drummer for Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons for five years. The singing drummer formed The Rock Doctors and Gary Young and The Rocking Emus, his first full-on country combo.The band also featuring Wayne Duncan, Wayne Burt and Ross Hannaford released its Ross Wilson produced self titled album for Mushroom in 1982. The singles were the double A single “Running Late For Wandong”/”Rockabilly Heaven” and “Keep Your Hands Off My Baby”/”Rollin' Home”. Others were “One Night” 1973, “Saga Of The Three Pigs” 1973 and “Ubangi Stomp”/”Mystery Train” 1980.
